mccabe(1)

mccabe1

Program that estimates function complexity.

Usage

mccabe [-n] files ...

Overview

mccabe determines function complexity based on the McCabe model of program complexity. McCabe produces the following output: File Name, Function Name (or *** for complexity not in a function, as in yacc), Complexity, and Count of return statements

A complexity score higher than 13 means, typically means that you should aim for simpler code. The number of returns in a function, however, is probably more important than complexity when predicting faults.

Options

The program follows the short-options syntax starting with one dashe (`-'). A summary of options are included below.

-n

Is useful if you are using this to produce data for other tools.
