# gt-extension-upgrade(1)

Upgrade installed extensions

## NAME

gt-extension-upgrade - Upgrade installed extensions

## SYNOPSIS

**gt extension upgrade {\<name\>... \| --all} \[flags\]**

## DESCRIPTION

Upgrade extensions to their latest release, or to the latest commit of the default branch for script extensions. gt shows the old and new version and digest and asks first.

gt refuses an upgrade when the repository is no longer the one the extension was installed from, such as after a transfer, and when a release tag it installed now holds a different asset. Extensions installed with --pin and local extensions are not upgraded; reinstall them with gt extension install --force.
