firewall-easy8

Easyly setup firewalling rules

Usage

firewall-easy [{start | stop}]

Overview

This manual page documents the firewall-easy command. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution because the original program does not have a manual page. Instead, it has documentation in the GNU Info format; see below.

firewall-easy is a program to easily setup firewalling rules for home users. It's primary intention is to avoid users to know how to define rules for a given firewall technology (ipchains or any other) using automatic firewall generation code.

Firewall-easy was written by a Spanish Debian GNU/Linux user so be aware that comments in the code and configuration files (and most documentation) is written in that language. It is also oriented towards home users using ADSL connections. If you are an administrator that wishes to setup firewalling rules for a server this program might or might not help, keep that in mind.

Currently it only support ipchains. But support for newer firewalling implementations (like netfilter) is on the way.

Options

The firewall-easy program only supports two options: start and stop.

Files

All files used by firewall-easy are installed in /usr/lib/firewall-easy.

Configuration files are located in /etc. Currently it uses:

/etc/firewall-easy.conf

Defines the configuration of the local networks and interfaces.

/etc/firewall-easy-lib

Defines the filtering rules which are used to generate the specific rules

/etc/firewall-ipchains

Ipchains rules automatically generated by fwgen-ipchains based on the previous file.

Documentation is available at /usr/share/doc/firewall-easy (but see below)
