apgp(1)

apgp1

Wrapper around pgp that provides passphrases for you

Usage

apgp [OPTION ...] [FILE] [USERID ...]

Overview

When q-agent is running, apgp can be used instead of pgp, and it will try to get all necessary passphrases from the agent instead of asking you directly.

Since all arguments are handed off to pgp verbatim, the interface of apgp is exactly the same as that of pgp.

The following pgp options will influence the behaviour of apgp itself:

-u, +myname NAME

informs apgp that it should provide the passphrase for the key indicated by NAME.

--version

apgp will output its version, too.

Compatibility

apgp is inteded to work only with pgp versions that start with 2.6.

Environment

AGENT_SOCKET

apgp will use this variable to find the socket for communicating with the agent.

PGPPASSFD

Because this variable is used by apgp itself, any value inherited from a calling process will be effectively ignored.
